| Production Shift Leader - Manufacturing (3rd Shift) We're looking for a Production Shift Lead to join our growing 3rd shift team! Williamsburg Manufacturing is located in Williamsburg, IA and will require relocation for those interested in this opportunity. We are sure you will love the area, since we are located about 20 miles west of the Iowa City – Cedar Rapids "corridor;" a thriving and rapidly growing region. Summary: Provide leadership and accountability for personnel and productivity of assigned shift and area(s). Oversee and direct associates in a safe, quality-minded and productive manner to attain production priorities as scheduled. The shift leader must possess excellent leadership and human relations skills, be decisive and responsible, and lead by example. The shift leader must demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude and work toward continual improvement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Maintain effective communication with associates via pre-shift and individual meetings regarding company policies, procedures, work rules, process documentation and environmental regulations · Follow the principles of the Magna Employee Charter · Review all production objectives and coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with department manager and other shift personnel to maximize product reliability and minimize costs · Supervision of associates to include training and development, communication and enforcement of company policies and procedures, performance coaching and evaluation, and written documentation of employee performance issues · Schedule and assign employees to appropriate tasks to achieve department daily production, quality and housekeeping goals; rotate work of employees fairly · Maintain an open and honest relationship with fellow associates and help develop this attitude; treat all associates with dignity and respect without favoritism · Ensure all associates are trained to use and sign white books; monitor and ensure compliance · Conduct yearly performance reviews in timely manner · Maintain Supervisor Handbook in up-to-date condition and be familiar with contents · Ensure associate safety awareness through training, pre-shift meetings, and individual consultation; strive for continuous improvement in injury reduction · Discipline associates per company policies and procedures · Participate in prototyping and launch/installation of engineering changes to radiator support assembly · Assist with machine set up’s as required · Trouble shoot and obtain appropriate support to fix problems · Recommend measures for and participate in continual improvement of quality methods, equipment performance, and product quality · React and follow through with all quality issues to ensure that no defective products are shipped to customers · Maintain effective communication and coordination with all internal customers, plant management and associates; maintain positive employee relations · Provide accurate daily reports on machine uptime, pieces per hour, scrap percentage and accidents · Operate fork life vehicles in safe and efficient manner · Knowledgeable in CMS and able to troubleshoot same · Complete correspondence, forms and reports as required · Handle confidential information on a regular basis · Promote and facilitate Open Door process without reprisal, effective communication and Fair Treatment · Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies · Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications · Able to demonstrate understanding of how job performance affects product quality and customer satisfaction · Able to work well with others; build and maintain positive employee relations · Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures and guidelines · Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, suppliers and customers · Able to pass tow motor license test and operate tow motor · Able to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact · Able to work flexible hours and overtime · Able to calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages and proportions · Able to use computer and software as required · Able to work under pressure of meeting schedules, personnel issues, production deadlines and managing multiple priorities Education and Experience · High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience · Knowledge of stamping, welding and assembly processes and procedures · At least two year priors supervisory experience in a stamping, welding or assembly environment is preferred · Welding to include robotics and arc (company certified or have equivalent certification) may be required, depending on area assigned · Quality control and SPC · Forklift training · At least two years’ demonstrated successful experience at improving manufacturing efficiencies is preferred Hours: 3rd Shift We are one of the area's top employers offering a competitive salary and excellent benefits which include profit sharing; 401(k); and health, dental and vision plans.
